A new project for POMINI Long Rolling Mills in Iraq

POMINI Long Rolling Mills signed a contract with Mawarid Alkhaleej Company for the supply of equipment and services for a new Rolling Mill for rebars in Baghdad (Iraq).
For this project, POMINI Long Rolling Mills had previously prepared a feasibility study and completed the plant pre-engineering tasks.

The main supply comprises a billet re-heating furnace with 120 tons of hourly productivity, the rolling train with nineteen stands Red Ring Series 5, the inline EVO-POMINI Quenching System for quenching and tempering, the cooling bed, the devices for hot and cold cutting, the area for bundle formation equipped with digital bar counting system and finished product discharge.
The mill will have a yearly production capacity of 670,000 tons and will roll rebars with a maximum diameter of 50 mm, including the 4-slit-rolling of diameters 8÷12 mm and 2-slit for diameters 14÷18 mm, and plain rounds with diameter from 20 to 50 mm.
The mill will have the provision for the future addition of the ERT-EBROS technology for the welding of billets. In the future, the range of rolled products may be extended with merchant bars such as hexagons, squares, flats, angles, and channels.
The supply of electrics and automation will include the main and auxiliary drives and motors, and the level 1 automation.
POMINI Long Rolling Mills will also provide the technical training as well as the advisory services for erection and  commissioning. Fluid systems, operating parts and spare parts will round of the supply.
The startup of the new rolling is planned in the first half of 2027.
With this plant, POMINI Long Rolling Mills strengthens its presence in the Middle East area with a high-productivity last-generation rolling mill, which will ensure a safe return on investment and long-term operational reliability.
