The history of POMINI Long Rolling Mills brand began as POMINI more than a century ago in Castellanza (Varese, Italy) with a maintenance workshop to service the local manufacturing industry. The business later expanded to components for the transmission of mechanical power, and to the realization of complete plants, especially in the long products field.
POMINI is established in Castellanza (Varese, Italy) operating in the repair and modernization of textile machineries.
Birth and development of rolling mills portfolio with progressive internationalization.
Further investments in portfolio innovation with the development of groundbreaking technologies and equipment (example: the“Red Ring Housingless”stand).
TECHINT
Techint Group takes over POMINI, supporting important technological developments and market expansion (especially in Asia).
GLOBAL COMPETITION
The full-line joint venture VAI Pomini is established with the Austrian VAI, incorporating the portfolio of Ashlow and GFM Rolling.
SIEMENS VAI METALS TECHNOLOGIES
Siemens AG takes over VATECH, the holding company of VAI Pomini, contributing the know-how in electrics and automation.
PRIMETALS TECHNOLOGIES JOINT VENTURE
The joint venture Primetals Technologies is established between Mitsubishi Heavy Ind. (51%) and Siemens AG (49%), with headquarters in London. Primetals Technologies Italy is created.
